We are an international Christian organisation. We have worked in Eastern Europe for over 50 years and currently focus on Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. Because of our long-term commitment, we enjoy an exceptional relationship with the governments of all these countries. MWB employs only local staff, as they know local requirements and their own culture best. This enables us to identify and address the most important needs, while supporting the local economy. Through our staff in each country, we assist thousands of abandoned children, single mothers, the elderly, young people and poverty-stricken families. Many are brought out of despair and given new hope. By involving those we serve, we recognise the dignity of the individual. We support all who are in need, regardless of their belief, or lack of belief. Read some personal stories to see how lives have been changed through MWB.

Our History

Mission Without Borders was founded in 1960 in response to the material and spiritual needs of people living in poverty or suffering persecution in Communist Europe. Our work began when the Cold War was at its most intense. In Eastern Europe a rigid political system had demanded strict loyalty, and those who dared to disagree suffered imprisonment and death. Literally millions of Christians were persecuted for their beliefs and many paid with their lives. The unregistered underground church was our mission field, reflected in our name at the time, Underground Evangelism, and later Aid to the Persecuted.
