Fundraising Ideas

We love to hear about how people are fundraising for our work.   Here are a few of the interesting ideas some of our supporters have come up with.

A Christmas Tree with a differenceGerald and Helen Bell made people in their church aware of the Mission in a very unusual way last Christmas.   The church in a small village in Norfolk had a Christmas Tree festival.    They bought one of the 20 trees on offer and decorated it with photographs from Gerald’s recent sponsor tour to Moldova, copies of our logo, and paper candles of the countries we serve.   He put out plenty of our recent newsletters and Operation Christmas Love leaflets.   Next to them he placed the quote from the Bible, Matthew 35: 35-40.   People came to the tree festival from miles around and learnt about Mission Without Borders and how God uses us.   It was so successful that they are doing it again this year in their own church and in Fakenham Parish Church.

Denis and Eileen Trezise are very caring and influential couple.   They put on presentations of Denis’ beautiful photography and photgraphs from our work.   They sell items which they’ve gathered from friends, families and acquaintances at fairs and take the opportunity to tell others of our work.   They have not only influenced family (their nephew occasionally sell items on eBay to raise funds) but their friends have helped when needed.   A particular friend of theirs is Tom Wallis, a  very accomplished cheesemaker, who talks to groups about producing his award winning cheese at Lowna Dairy.   He often makes a gift of his  expenses which Denis and Eileen pass on to us.  Their greatest concern is for children in ‘orphanages’ that they may have the necessary social and vocational skills to enable them to have a good future on leaving the ‘orphanage’.

Pauline and Bob Dobson have supported us for many years.   Enjoying a Strawberry TeaBob’s gardening skills and Pauline’s baking skills allow them to hold a lovely outdoor Strawberry Tea each year.   The paying guests enjoy a traditional cream tea with fresh strawberries and  have the opportunity to buy more home-made cakes and confectionery.   With a team of helpers from their church their hard work always pays off.   Everyone has a wonderful day in Yorkshire and so many people in Easter Europe benefit from it.
