Stavila Family’s Story
Pavel and Ana are hardworking people, but no matter how hard they tried their lot did not improve. Pavel had to leave his family and go to Russia to find work. Their life had little purpose other than finding the next meal.
They live in three rooms, heated by wood with a toilet outside. The floor is just earth and barely covered. There is no bathroom. The whole family’s health was poor due to malnutrition and bad sanitation.
Since Mission Without Borders became involved in their lives, the Stavila Family have been blessed with good sponsors.
Through the sponsorship scheme Mission Without Borders have been able to provide food, medicine and clothing. Then at Christmas and Easter their sponsors sent parcels full of treats. The Stavilas were delighted and wrote, “Thank you for everything you do for us and for the wonderful gifts you have sent. Let God give you His peace and thorough blessings.”
Then one day a long-hoped for dream came true for them. Some of their sponsors made it possible for them to have a tractor!
The Stavilas set to work straightaway. They planted corn, sun flower, wheat and alfalfa to feed the poultry and cattle. They planted grapes to sell and sold some livestock too. This enabled them to install gas pipes close to their house. Pavel’s next priority was to dig a well to provide water for his family and for a vegetable garden. They now have meat, dairy products and vegetables which they use themselves, sell or give to those in need.
It is wonderful to see the way the Stavilas have changed. It started with Mission Without Borders knocking on their door. Then the sponsors’ involvement. Through the moral, spiritual and material support, the Stavila family’s life has completely changed.
Their despair has been replaced with health for their family and hope for their future.
