Twins’ Story from Summer Camp

twins at summer campTransformed twins  Ervina and Ervin, from Albania, had never been away from home before. And they’ve never had a holiday. They were uncertain about leaving their mother, who they follow everywhere. But their summer at camp was a time they’ll never forget.

Growing confidence
Away from their mother, the ten-year old twins’ shyness held them back from taking part in the fun and games. But as they grew in confidence they joined in with singing and games, and also learnt about the love of God through Bible lessons. Then, being surrounded by Christian children they saw and experienced the love of God in practice: Because Ervin is a good swimmer he received a lot of affirmation and praise. For Ervina, it was simply a wonderful experience. ‘I like it here,’ she said. ‘It is so beautiful and the teachers are very nice and polite; completely different from our teachers at school. Here, they are never rude to us. In the evenings, we pray with them.’

It was their first time away from home, but it was a time full of happy memories. Ervina exclaimed with shining eyes, ‘thank you very much for the wonderful experience of summer camp. I love everything here – sorry for repeating this time and again,’ she said. ‘I have received Jesus into my heart. At the end of the summer camp, we will go to the church together on Sundays.’

What’s next?
Your donations and prayers enabled thousands of children to experience love and affirmation at hundreds of MWB summer camps. Many, like Ervina, will have made a commitment to Christ. But what happens to the children when they come back from camp? What on-going help do they have?
