The family unit forms us for the rest of our lives. It is where we are nurtured and grow in love and kindness.

Sadly for thousands of families in Eastern Europe, the reality is very different. High levels of unemployment and abject poverty lead families to despair. Without hope there often seems little point in anything. Thousands of children are abandoned to institutions.

These children will never live in a family again simply because their own families cannot afford to care for them.

It is because Mission Without Borders (MWB) believes that the family is so precious that we introduced our Family-to-Family sponsorship scheme.

Through Family-to-Family, MWB offers families practical, social and pastoral help. We work with each individual family, to help them stay together and enable them to become self-reliant.

We also support thousands of other families (those not in the Family-to-Family scheme) with deliveries of food, medicines and clothing.

For expectant mums, we have a special Mother Care project to provide them with everything they need before, during and after the birth of her baby.
