Viktoria’s mother was deprived of her parental rights because of alcoholism and her father died many years ago.
“When I go home during my holidays, I don’t receive much of a warm welcome there,” Viktoria said.
Fortunately, there is a place where Viktoria is warmly welcomed and where she has experienced love, acceptance, joy and fun – and that is the summer camp run by Mission Without Borders.
“Summer Camp is the brightest time of the whole year,” Viktoria said excitedly. “There I learned about true friendship. I learned that I need to give support, to cheer others up, and to take the initiative in relationships.
“A camp I learned that I can pray and ask for God’s help. This is how I discovered that God is real.”
She added, “I deeply love my mother in spite of everything. I try to keep in touch with her. We often talk and I hope there’ll be good changes in her life. I’m always praying for her.”
Olexandr Lukaschuk, MWB children’s worker, said, “I have been the summer camp coordinator for many years and I remember Viktoria from a young age. She was once a very closed-off and sad child. Praise God that she’s turned into a confident, strong and open person.”
